18 February 1998

The company Eko Papir d. o. o. founded; 100% equity share held by Darko Matošić. The first start-up of manufacturing was in Peteranec.

2002

Relocation to the current manufacturing facility in Gola

2005

The current managing director Krešimir Matošić, dipl. ekon., is employed with the company

2010

The beginning of a strong investment cycle with the purchase of the first machine for bags with handles and the focus on international European markets.

2011

The beginning of the cooperation with the Slovenian company Klamas, which has become the most important partner of Eko papir and has significantly contributed to the company’s growth in European markets.

2012

Krešimi Matošić becomes the Managing Director of the company. The company continues its strong investment cycle by investing into machines for manufacturing bags with handles and flat bottom bags.

2018

Irena Matošić begins working at the company in the field of purchasing and sales.

April 2019

The production facility housing the machinery for manufacturing flat bottom bags burnt to the ground.

December 2019

Generali GEF – a private equity fund – acquired a 75% equity interest in the company by purchasing a shareholding. Krešimir Matošić (12.5%) and Irena Matošič (12.5%) become minority owners of the company.

January 2020

EKO papir buys the company Klamas d. o. o., which is then renamed into EKO papir d. o. o.

Late 2020

The company EKO papir adopts a new strategy, according to which it will additionally increase its investments into new machinery and will also double these investments in the next few years. This way, the company will additionally strengthen its position on the European market.
